Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion – it’s in our DNA

Vituity’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is at the heart of our organization and we believe it is core to transforming healthcare and improving lives. We have a DEI leadership team that is solely focused on leading our organization-wide initiatives and they are supported by an executive council, an advisory group, and Vituity Communities, our resource groups.

Zero barriers

An audacious goal, but one that we are continually working towards. Our multi-year DEI strategic vision is aimed at driving towards zero barriers through organization-wide efforts in:

  • Access and opportunity by evaluating recruiting efforts and advancement criteria
  • Inclusive awareness by celebrating the uniqueness of every colleague
  • Community partnerships by advocating for healthcare and social justice
  • Learning journeys by continually improving our inclusive behaviors and culture competencies
  • Inclusive practices and policies by building organizational support systems

Elevating voices within Vituity

Our Vituity Communities are voluntary, employee-led groups that are open to all. They provide Vituity Partners and employees the autonomy to express themselves and the opportunity to connect with colleagues who have shared characteristics, experiences, or interests. Our communities celebrate diversity, champion internal awareness events, and drive community outreach to promote equity and inclusion.

Healthcare justice demands healthcare for all

As practicing clinicians, we see firsthand how social and cultural disparities impact our patients and communities, and we want to do something about it. Driven by a passionate leadership team, Vituity aims to drive healthcare justice in the industry at large.

Our CEO, Imamu Tomlinson, MD, MBA, was named one of Modern Healthcare’s Most Influential Executives in 2022 for his transformational leadership. Dr. Tomlinson is leading a paradigm shift that extends care beyond the hospital walls and into the communities that need it most.

One example of Vituity’s commitment to creating equitable care for all is the creation of the Vituity Cares Foundation. The Vituity Cares Foundation works outside our organization to improve health in our communities by addressing the inequity and inequality that lead to poorer health outcomes, and to remedy the lack of representation among healthcare clinicians that perpetuates those outcomes. From pop up clinics to mentorship programs the efforts of the foundation reach deep into the communities that we serve providing care and opportunity to those who need it most.

Our impact on the industry

By elevating voices within Vituity and actively working to promote the importance of cultural diversity and social justice in healthcare within our communities, Vituity's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program manifests itself in everything we hope to achieve as a leading healthcare organization in the 21st century. Our signature DEI programs are examples of the ways we make a difference in the healthcare industry as a whole.
