Dr. Wes Curry Awards

The Dr. Wes Curry Awards were created in 2018 to recognize diverse emergency medicine physicians and administrators who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, collaboration, innovation, and culture. Nominations are accepted from academic and community institutions, for individuals holding national, regional, or community leadership roles.

The award is named for Wesley Curry, MD, FACEP, who cofounded the Wes Curry Community Impact Summit, served as Chief Executive Officer of Vituity for 19 years, and served in many industry leadership roles. Dr. Curry is an inspiring leader and mentor to many leaders in emergency medicine.

Dr. Matthews has dedicated her career to transforming healthcare systems for marginalized communities through leadership in primary care, public health, and health policy. She also co-founded the Tour for Diversity in Medicine, expanding access to medical education and mentorship for underrepresented students.

These leaders represent the highest levels of excellence within our specialty and have worked tirelessly to create opportunities for their stakeholders and improve the care of patients. Their positive impact on patients and the profession will echo for generations to come.
