Wade C. Fox DO
Wade C. Fox, DO, FACEP, FAAEM, is an elected member of the Board of Directors and serves as a Regional Director for Vituity. Dr. Fox earned his undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Oregon in Eugene and earned his medical degree from the University Of Health Sciences College Of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kansas City, Mo. He completed his Residency in emergency medicine at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, where he also worked as a Life Flight physician.
He joined Vituity as medical director for Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Ore., in 2008. Under his leadership as ED Chair, Mercy Medical Center won Vituity's Emergency Department of the Year Award in 2012. He is past president and a current member of the board for the Oregon chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), and previously served as Chief Medical Officer for Umpqua Health, a Coordinated Care Organization (CCO).
Gregg Miller MD
Gregg Miller, MD, is Chief Medical Officer at Vituity, overseeing performance-improvement programs and the development and dissemination of best practices. He provides leadership in the areas of risk management, quality, continuing medical education, CMS performance, patient experience, operations flow, and data management.
Prior to being appointed CMO, Dr. Miller was Program Director of Quality and Performance for Emergency Medicine for Vituity. He has served as the Medical Director for the emergency departments at San Joaquin Community Hospital and Swedish Edmonds Hospital and has been involved in the implementation of multiple operational and quality-related initiatives.
Dr. Miller sits on the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Quality and Performance Committee. He completed an administrative fellowship with Vituity, with a focus on CMS quality-related programs.
Dr. Miller attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Harbor-UCLA.
David Carter PA-C
David Carter, PA-C, is the Director of Advanced Provider Operations for Vituity. In this role, he provides direction for the operational side of the advanced provider practice aligned across Vituity’s multispecialty growth strategy.
David holds a Master of Health Sciences from Duke University's physician assistant program. He joined Vituity more than 16 years ago and has worked clinically at seven different locations.
He began his career at the St. Louise Regional Hospital Emergency Department, where he later became the Advanced Provider Site Lead. He then served for five years as an Advanced Provider Regional Lead. He continues to practice in the emergency department at San Mateo Medical Center.
Outside Vituity, David is a former Director at Large for the California Academy of Physician Assistants.
Omar Guzman MD
Omar Guzman, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician, born and raised in Visalia, Calif. He currently serves as a core faculty member for the Kaweah Health emergency medicine residency program and is the director of undergraduate medical education at Kaweah Delta Health Care District. He is also the director of the Kaweah Health Street Medicine Team, which provides direct care to the homeless population encampments of Tulare County.
Barry Young, MD
Imamu Tomlinson MD, MBA
Imamu Tomlinson, MD, MBA, is Chief Executive Officer of Vituity and President of the Vituity Cares Foundation. Prior to his appointment as CEO in 2017, he served as Vituity's President. As a former Regional Director of the Sequoia Region, he led the creation of one of Vituity’s first multihospital, multispecialty, integrated networks. Dr. Tomlinson also served as a member of the Vituity Board of Directors from 2012 to 2015.
In 2021, Dr. Tomlinson was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives and selected as one of Fierce Healthcare’s Most Influential Minority Executives for 2021.
In addition, Dr. Tomlinson is a former Chief of Staff for the Adventist Health Central Valley Network, where he continues to practice as an emergency physician. He previously served as Medical Director for Adventist Health's Hanford and Selma emergency departments, which received Vituity Site of the Year distinctions. Dr. Tomlinson also spearheaded an effort to create the network's Department of Emergency and Diagnostic Medicine and later served as its chair.
Dr. Tomlinson holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from St. Lawrence University and a medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Ohio and is board-certified in emergency medicine. In 2012, Dr. Tomlinson earned an MBA in healthcare administration from California Coast University.
Theo Koury MD
Theo Koury, MD, is President of Vituity. Before this appointment in 2017, he served as Vituity’s Chief Operations Officer. Since joining the Partnership in 1997, he has also held the roles of Vice President, Regional Director, and Medical Director, and has served on the Board of Directors.
In his role as President, Dr. Koury is responsible for managing enterprise risk, resources and infrastructure necessary to achieve Vituity’s mission of empowering healthcare providers to deliver exceptional care across more than 300 service locations nationwide. Dr. Koury is also focused on assuring newly developed services and corporate partnerships are built on a strong foundation and successfully integrated with existing services.
He is a practicing emergency physician at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, Calif, having previously served as the Medical Director, and chaired a multi-disciplinary hospital committee to improve transition of care throughout the in-patient experience.
Dr. Koury holds a bachelor's degree in biology from University of Southern California and a medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and is an American College of Emergency Physician Fellow. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident, elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and received the John P. McDade Award for Research in Emergency Medical Care.
Maureen Bell MD, FACEP
Dr. Bell is chair of emergency medicine at Howard University College of Medicine. She also serves as emergency department medical director at Howard University Hospital, the nation’s only teaching hospital located on a historically Black university campus.
In 2020, Dr. Bell became a founding board member of the Vituity Cares Foundation. Through this role, she works to improve the health of underserved communities and create a more diverse and inclusive healthcare workforce.
Dr. Bell holds a medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed her emergency medicine residency at New York City Health and Hospitals Jacobi Medical Center. She credits her mother, a nurse, for inspiring her early interest in medicine.
Denise Brown MD
Denise Brown, MD, is Chief Growth Officer for Vituity. Prior to this appointment in 2017, she served Vituity as Vice President of Practice Development and Hospitalist Medical Director at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, Calif.
Dr. Brown is one of the drivers behind Vituity's expansion as an integrated multispecialty organization. She has seen firsthand the positive impacts of integration on the patient experience and on the day-to-day work environment of providers. By combining her grasp of Vituity culture and her real-world insights, she inspires and empowers others to champion the integrated and team-based focused care needed by hospitals today.
Dr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago, with election to Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Brown completed her internal medicine residency at Stanford University and has been with Vituity since 2002.
Anum Niazi MD
Anum A. Niazi, MD is a hospitalist and serves as Vituity's Hospital Medicine Administrative Fellow and the hospital medicine Lead Advocacy Coordinator. She was elected as the Women's ERG Women at Vituity Excel (WAVE) Co-Lead, where she strives to uplift others in the organization. She is an ABIM certified physician who completed residency at Mercer University School of Medicine Coliseum Medical Centers HCA and is a former Vanderbilt University Chancellor's Scholar.
Rodney Koenig PA-C
Rodney Koenig, PA-C, is Director of Advanced Provider Recruiting and Retention for Vituity. He is responsible for identifying and implementing integrated strategies to improve recruiting, professional development, and retention of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and anesthetists within the Partnership.
He previously served on Vituity’s Advanced Provider Advisory Committee, as an Advanced Provider Regional Lead, and as Advanced Provider Site Lead at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, Calif.
Rodney earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, and graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles. He has extended his emergency medicine education by attending the Daniel Freeman Paramedic Program and the San Bernardino City Firefighter Academy.
Rodney was honored with Vituity’s Distinguished Service Award in 2005 and the Diocese of San Bernardino White Mass Bishop’s Award in 2015.
Christine Doyle MD, FASA
Dr. Christine Doyle, MD is Assistant Medical Director of Anesthesiology at Vituity. She is an Anesthesiology Specialist at O’Connor Hospital and has over 31 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine, and has residencies and fellowships from UCSF Medical Center, University Medical Center Southern Nevada, and Stanford University. Dr. Doyle is former President of California Society of Anesthesiologists and served on a variety of committees with Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists and American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Herbert Harman MD
Dr. Harman has more than a decade of experience practicing psychiatry in patient, outpatient, and emergency care settings. Before joining Vituity, he served as a U.S. Air Force psychiatrist and was deployed to Afghanistan as a Combat Operational Stress Control Officer.
After returning to civilian life, he worked in several psychiatric emergency departments and later served as a medical director of outpatient psychiatry and brain stimulation services. His approach is to quickly speed patients to settings that promote recovery while ensuring safety.
Dr. Harman is passionate about using technology to transform patient care. In 2010. he assisted in the development of an innovative telepsychiatry program on the East Coast. He joined Vituity as Associate Director of Telepsychiatry in 2016.
Joshua Niebruegge MD
Joshua Niebruegge, MD is Vice President of Hospital Medicine Operations at Vituity. He currently practices at OSF Saint Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, IL. He graduated medical school from University of Illinois at Chicago and attended residency at Saint Louis University Hospital.
Thomas Sugarman MD, FACEP, FAAEM
Thomas Sugarman, MD, FACEP, FAAEM, is a Past President of the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association and of the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is Co-Chair of the East Bay Safe Prescribing Coalition. He is the Senior Director of Government Affairs for Vituity. He holds a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a medical degree from University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Sugarman has practiced emergency medicine with Vituity since 2001 and was chosen by the Sutter Delta Medical Center emergency department as Doctor of the Year in 2005.
Alex Schmalz MD, MPH
Alex Schmalz, MD, MPH, was a senior resident in emergency medicine at University of California, Davis when he volunteered to serve in New York City during the coronavirus pandemic. He completed his Medical Degree and Master of Public Health at Tulane University in in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Schmalz joined Vituity in summer 2020 as a physician Partner at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento and Sutter Roseville Medical Center in Roseville, California.
Rochelle Rock MD
Rochelle Rock, MD, is a Vituity physician partner in the emergency department at Sutter Delta Medical Center, a nationally ranked, Level II acute care facility in Antioch, Calif.
Nathan is a data scientist for MedAmerica Data Services, a Vituity data company. He is generally responsible for building the analytics platform our team uses to deploy performant and reproducible models in production.
Prior to his role at MedAmerica Data Services, Nathan worked in a similar capacity for Jvion, a healthcare startup. Before data science was coined, he did ecological research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. It turns out both fields have a deep love for the R language.
Nathan holds a M.S. in ecology and evolutionary biology for the University of Tennessee and a B.A in environmental studies from Vassar College.
Philip Clarkson MD, MSc
Dr. Clarkson is a Hospitalist Medical Director at Adventist Health Sonora (Calif.), a former Vituity administrative fellow, and serves as faculty for Vituity's Senior Residents' Weekend. His fellowship project focused on using technology and innovation to improve clinical documentation. He completed his internal medicine residency at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, N.J.
Carol Kong Darden MPH
Carol Kong Darden holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in health and social behavior from the University of California, Berkeley. She joined Vituity in 2015.

Mercy San Juan Medical Center
Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a Dignity Health hospital located in Carmichael, Calif. It is home to the Sacramento area's first Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Amandeep Kaur joined Vituity in 2016. In her role as Associate Program Manager for Post-Acute Care, she has helped to strengthen the care continuum between Vituity hospitals and skilled-nursing facilities. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and Management from the University of California, East Bay.
Scott Bradford's career in medical recruiting spans over 14 years. He joined Vituity in 2015 and currently oversees recruiting for 15 emergency medicine practices. Outside the office, Scott volunteers about 200 hours each year as a ski patroller near his home in Utah.
Sumter Armstrong MHA
Sumter Armstrong is Vice President of Business Development for Vituity and has served in this role since February 2016. She is responsible for developing strategic partnerships with a primary focus on Acute Psychiatry and Telehealth.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., and her Masters of Healthcare Administration from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va.
With extensive background and 10-plus years of experience in healthcare and business development, Sumter joined Vituity to help develop and grow our new and innovative practice lines.
Brooke West serves as Vituity's Director of Provider Enrollment. She is a payer credentialing and enrollment expert with 10-plus years of healthcare administration experience and has been with the Partnership since 2008. In her current role, Brooke integrates her extensive knowledge of enrollment requirements for medical groups with technology tools and process improvement to create smooth enrollment processes to meet enterprise-wide needs.
William T. Choctaw MD, JD, CSSBB
Bill Choctaw, MD, JD, CSSBB is Physician Advisor for The Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare, where he contributes on a variety of issues. Previously, he was Chief Transformation Officer at Citrus Valley Health Partners (CVHP) where he practiced surgery and was a member of the hospital executive team for seven years. In 2013, Dr. Choctaw launched a Robust Process Improvement/Lean Six Sigma program at CVHP, in partnership with The Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare.

Alicia Mikolaycik Kurtz MD
Alicia Mikolaycik Kurtz, MD, completed her emergency medicine residency at UCSF Fresno in central California, where she and her co-chiefs started Real Talk — a storytelling experience that allows providers the opportunity to process the more human aspects of working in healthcare. Since then, she has traveled around the country training groups to use Real Talk to improve the provider experience at their sites. Dr. Kurtz has robust leadership experience, including serving on the board of directors and as President of the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA) from 2015–2018. She also completed Vituity’s Administrative Fellowship from 2017–2018. Dr. Kurtz currently serves as assistant medical director in the emergency department at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento. Outside of medicine, she loves travel adventures; trying new things; her amazingly supportive partner, Marco; yoga; and all things Trader Joe’s.

Dr. Franks is Chief Quality Officer at Emory University Hospital Midtown, an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, an Emory Healthcare board member, and a practicing physician. She co-founded Emory’s Administrative Fellowship in Emergency Medicine and currently serves as the program’s codirector.

Esther Choo, MD, MPH, is interim executive director and a founding member at TIME’S UP Healthcare, founder at Equity Quotient, associate professor of emergency medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, and a practicing emergency physician. Swati Mehta MD
Swati Mehta, MD is Director of Quality and Performance at Vituity overseeing patient experience programs. She completed her internal medicine residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University where she was selected as chief resident. Following residency, Dr. Mehta completed a nephrology fellowship at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She currently sits on the physician council of the Beryl Institute, a global community of practice dedicated to improving the patient experience. In 2020, Dr. Mehta will serve as vice chair of the Society for Hospital Medicine’s Patient Experience Committee and join the executive board of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter.
Shahla Moghbel DO
Shahla Moghbel, DO, is the first fellow to join the Stanford Vituity Neurohospital Program. During this two-year experience, she will complete an administrative fellowship at Vituity and a fellowship in intraoperative neuromonitoring at Stanford Medicine. Dr. Moghbel earned her medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Virginia. She then completed her neurology residency at NIH-Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she served as administrative chief of the program.

Pamela Allen, RN, MSN, CEN, is the Director of Emergency Services at Redlands Community Hospital.
Emily Wang Zahn JD
Emily Zahn, JD, is the Vice President of Compliance and Compliance Officer at Vituity. In this role, she oversees compliance and privacy for the revenue cycle management, physician practice, and practice management divisions as well as HR compliance. As Compliance Officer, she facilitates a culture of awareness and accountability across our enterprise.
Emily received her Bachelor of Arts at Princeton University and her law degree from the University of Louisville's Brandeis School of Law. Before joining Vituity, she was a litigator with Dinsmore and Shohl, LLP, handling regulatory matters and defending emergency medicine physicians and other medical professionals.
She later served as the Vice President of Emergency Department Compliance at Intermedix and was the Assistant General Manager and Chief Compliance Officer at RevCycle+ (a subsidiary of Tsystem). Her experience included management of revenue cycle operations and client services for emergency physician groups.
Emily joined Vituity in 2015 as Director of Contract Administration and Regulatory Affairs.
In addition to her duties at Vituity, she is a member of the American Bar Association Health Law Section, the Emergency Department Practice Management Association, and the Medical Group Management Association.
Shaun Partlow PA-C
Shaun Partlow, PA-C, oversees advanced provider education and leadership development at Vituity. She currently practices in the emergency department at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, Calif.
After completing her undergraduate degree at San Francisco State University, Shaun graduated from the PA program at the UC Davis School of Medicine in 1999.
Shaun was a member of the national Disaster Medical Assistance Team from 2001 to 2015. In this role, she deployed to New Orleans in 2005 to assist with the response to Hurricane Katrina. She currently serves as the Team Leader for her local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Shauna Conry MD
Shauna Conry, MD, is Vituity's Director of Palliative Care. She helped develop and launch our Palliative Care Program as an Administrative Fellow.
Dr. Conry earned her medical degree from the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine. She then completed an emergency medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens.
She currently serves as an Assistant Emergency Department Medical Director at French Hospital Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.
Shawn Lucas MD
Shawn Lucas, MD, is a regional director at Vituity overseeing anesthesiology operations. Prior to this appointment, he served as a Vituity board member and as anesthesiology medical director at the Regional Medical Center of San Jose (Calif.).
Dr. Lucas is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Bowling Green State University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati.
After completing his residency at the University of California, San Francisco, he served as a clinical instructor at San Francisco General Hospital. He is a former president of Group Anesthesia Services, which affiliated with Vituity in 2014.

Stacie Solt MD
Stacie Solt, MD, is a partner in CEP America, currently practicing as an emergency medicine physician at San Mateo Medical Center. She is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the San Mateo County EMS Agency as well as the San Mateo Medical Center Credentialing Committee. Dr. Solt received her bachelor of arts in Human Biology with an area of concentration in Adolescent Development from Stanford University and her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. Steven Zahn MD
Dr. Zahn is a Regional Director for Vituity. He also serves as ED Medical Director and directs the scribe program at Presence St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, Ill.
Surinder Yadav MD
Surinder Yadav, MD, is Vice President of Hospital Medicine for Vituity. As an expert in healthcare quality, he plays a key role in the integration of physician services across the Acute Care Continuum.
Dr. Yadav received his medical degree from the University of Liverpool in England. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Baystate Medical Center, a teaching facility of Tufts University in Springfield, Mass.
He stayed on at Tufts as an associate professor and as Associate Medical Director of Hospital Medicine and Healthcare Quality. In these roles, he led the standardization of multiple quality protocols around sepsis and stroke. He also served as Chair of the hospital’s Sepsis Quality Committee and as a physician advisor for utilization, cost, and waste reduction.
Prior to joining Vituity, Dr. Yadav was a Senior Regional Medical Director for TeamHealth, overseeing multiple hospital medicine programs along the West Coast.
Ted Kloth MD, FACEP
Dr. Kloth is the former Chief Business Officer of CEP America. In this role, Dr. Kloth put CEP America’s practice model in front of a national audience of hospital administrators, and successfully demonstrated its value across hospital sizes, settings, and systems. A tireless advocate for democratic practice with a realist’s worldview, Dr. Kloth’s expertise in emergency physician group integration ensured a smooth transition for new emergency physicians into the CEP America culture and organizational structure. For the past 29 years, Dr. Kloth has also worked as a staff physician at the John Muir Medical Center emergency department in Walnut Creek, CA. Dr. Kloth joined CEP America in 1976 and served as Chairman of the Board from 2003 to 2006. He obtained his MD degree from Tulane University and is an American Board of Emergency Medicine Diplomat, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical society, a member of the AMA and AOA, and an American College of Emergency Physicians Fellow.
Ted Schwab is a partner in Strategy&'s health care practice. He focuses on healthcare system evolution, clinical transformation, and healthcare provider strategy. He then completed his residency in emergency medicine at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., and has been a Vituity Partner since 1989.
Tiffany Hackett MD, MBA
Tiffany Hackett, MD, MBA, is the Director of Leadership Development for Vituity. She is particularly interested in the professional development and education of physicians, which allows them to excel both as team and departmental leaders and as clinicians.
Additionally, she is a founding member and current leader of the Vituity Women in Medicine Workgroup. Before joining Vituity's senior leadership, she served as Medical Director of San Leandro Hospital and as Chair of Vituity’s Clinical Education Committee.
Dr. Hackett is board-certified in emergency medicine. After earning a bachelor's degree in biology at Yale University, she deferred medical school and spent a year in Venezuela teaching at an international school and improving her Spanish language fluency.
She then graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's MD/MBA program, earning degrees from the Wharton School of Business and the Perelman School of Medicine. She completed her residency at UCLA Medical Center and a fellowship at LAC+USC Medical Center. She joined Vituity in 2007.

Tim Wagner, BSIE, PMP, is black belt trained in Six Sigma and LEAN methodologies and brings an industrial engineering perspective to the project management team. Prior to joining MedAmerica, Tim was a process improvement engineer at a large airplane manufacturing firm. His onsite hospital experience includes conducting operations assessments, facilitating LEAN process teams, implementing innovative process improvement initiatives and facilitating new contract startups.

Vamshi leads the data analysis efforts as part of the Health Care Operational Intelligence (HOI) group at Aditazz. He is a medical doctor trained in public health from Yale University. At Aditazz, he integrates the clinical knowledge into building design. He works closely with software engineers, medical planners, and architects to build simulation models to provide hospital management with insights to improve their operations.
By applying automated design methodologies of the semiconductor industry, Aditazz is pushing new orders of efficiency into the health care industry. Aditazz’s proprietary software technology platform, the Aditazz Realization Platform (ARP), integrates simulation and optimization, strategic planning, design, manufacturing, and assembly into a single data-driven experience.

Vanessa Calderón MD, MPP
Vanessa Calderón, MD, MPP, is the Medical Director at San Leandro Hospital. Prior to that, Dr. Calderón served as the Assistant Medical Director and Director of Quality at San Leandro Hospital. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and served as the Director of Health Disparities for the American Medical Student Association from 2006-2007. Dr. Calderón is also an alumnus of the CEP Management Fellowship. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine and completed her emergency medicine residency at Albert Einstein Montefiore/Jacobi Medical Centers in New York City.
Wesley Curry MD, FACEP
Dr. Curry is the Chief Executive Officer of CEP America, responsible for implementing the strategic direction and vision for the company. Dr. Curry joined CEP America in 1982 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 1992. Since becoming CEO in 2000, Dr. Curry has overseen the growth of CEP America from 35 practice locations to the more than 100 that exist today. He has been a visionary for the organization, embracing information technology as a management tool and envisioning the multi-state, multi-specialty Partnership that exists today. Through his tireless work, CEP America has evolved from a regional emergency medicine group to a national physician group dedicated to caring for patients across the acute care continuum. In addition to his role as CEO, Dr. Curry works as a staff physician at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center emergency department in Pomona, CA, where he has practiced since 1980. He is a member of the California Medical Association and the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, where he served as president from 1989 to 1990. Originally from Dallas, Dr. Curry received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He received his medical degree from Harvard University Medical School in Boston, MA, and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California San Francisco Hospital and Medical Center.
Wesley Fields MD, FACEP
Wesley Fields, MD, is the longest-serving member of the Vituity Board of Directors and a past board chair. He practices emergency medicine at Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he is a core faculty member of the emergency medicine residency program. He also serves on the clinical faculty of the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.
Dr. Fields is board-certified in emergency medicine. He is a graduate of the College of Creative Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara and the Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Fields has been a tireless advocate for the specialty of emergency medicine. He served as founding Chair of both the California Emergency Medicine Advocacy Fund and the national Emergency Medicine Action Fund. He reviews health policy papers for three journals.
He was recently appointed to the Steering Committee on Admissions and Readmissions of the National Quality Forum. In addition, he has held many state and national leadership positions in the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. William Mostow, MD, FACEP is the ED Medical Director at Banner Del Webb Medical Center. He earned his Medical Degree from Northwestern University at the Feinberg School of Medicine.
Yafa Minazad DO
Yafa Minazad, DO, holds a medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif. She completed her residency at LAC+USC Medical Center and a neurophysiology fellowship at Huntington Memorial Hospital. Before joining Vituity, she cofounded SAGE Neurohospitalist Management Group, a pioneering acute stroke management practice.
Zachary Tebb MD
Dr. Tebb is the Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at St Anthony's Medical Center. The St Anthony's Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the State of Missouri. Dr. Tebb codirected the ED Transformation Team that helped the department reach best practice goals for door-to-provider and length of stay for admitted patients. He is currently the chair of the Excellence in Emergency Care Committee at St. Anthony's.
In 2016, Dr. Tebb was awarded the Vituity Innovation Grant to support development of a secure mobile application to enable physician-directed post-discharge patient contact.
Dr. Tebb received a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from Pepperdine University and was a teacher at Centro Del Muchacho Trabajador in Quito, Ecuador, before completing his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He completed his residency at Denver Health Medical Center/University of Colorado School of Medicine and is board-certified in emergency medicine.

Pamela McCord BSN, MBA
Pamela McCord, BSN, MBA, joined CEP America in 2012 after working as an emergency department director at Sherman Hospital in South Elgin, Illinois for two years. She started her career as a cardiac nurse at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, and later served as director of nursing for inpatient and outpatient units at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. During her career, she worked as a healthcare consultant at General Electric and has developed platforms for hospital ACOs — in the US and internationally — for Deloitte Consulting. She has also managed process improvement for major hospital systems in the United States. Pam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Indiana University and an MBA from Thomas More University in Kentucky.

Pascal Crosley, DO, is a Vice President of Practice Development at Vituity. He joined the organization in 2005.
He holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Towson University in Maryland and a medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. He completed his emergency medicine residency at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi.
Dr. Crosley previously served as Medical Director and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.

Patti Papeleux serves as Chief Operations Officer for Practice Management at Vituity. In this role, she oversees many key areas of the enterprise, including practice management, program development, and continuing education.

Peter Nosé, MD, PhD, is Director of Anesthesiology Operations for Vituity. In this role, he works with leaders across the Partnership to create integrated perioperative solutions for our client hospitals. He is board-certified in anesthesiology and practices at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, Calif.
Before joining Vituity, Dr. Nosé was an attending physician with Group Anesthesia Services for over 20 years. During this time, he held a variety of managerial and leadership roles, including Managing Partner and President. In addition, he served as Assistant Medical Director for the Silicon Valley and Bascom surgery centers.
Dr. Nosé is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. He received both his PhD in molecular pharmacology and his MD from Stanford University. He completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco, where he served as chief resident and was the recipient of the Stuart C. Cullen Award for Excellence in Clinical Anesthesia.

Prentice Tom MD
Prentice Tom, MD, is Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs at Vituity. In these roles, he oversees the development and implementation of healthcare service solutions.
Prior to being appointed CIO, Dr. Tom served as Chief Medical Officer, launching patient satisfaction initiatives and developing risk management and CMS programs. He also led two of Vituity’s breakthrough initiatives, including Rapid Medical Evaluation® (RME) and emergency psychiatry. Additionally, he oversaw the development of Vituity’s palliative care program, provided executive oversight for Vituity’s administrative fellowship, and created the practice’s Clinical Education Department and CME programs.
Dr. Tom joined Vituity in 1993. He currently works as a staff physician in the emergency department at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, Calif. Before joining Vituity, he was a faculty member at Stanford University's Department of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Tom has participated in numerous medical organizations, including the International Medical Corps (Bosnia) and Emergency International, where he served as long-term project coordinator for the China Project.
He holds a bachelor's degree in medical physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he cofounded the Asian Health Organization. Dr. Tom completed his residency in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and was a Kaiser Fellow in health policy and management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Providence Holy Cross provides high quality specialty services and has won the Magnet designation for excellence in nursing services. The Providence Holy Cross emergency department is a level II trauma center and Paramedic Receiving Center with Chest Pain Center and ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Receiving Center designations approved by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. Rick Newell, MD, is Chief Transformation Officer for Vituity. In this role, he is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of strategies, programs, and technologies that enhance and transform enterprise-wide healthcare delivery. He currently oversees initiatives related to innovation, acute psychiatry, acute neurology, telehealth, and complex care management.
Dr. Newell is board-certified in clinical informatics and emergency medicine. He obtained his Master of Public Health in healthcare management from Harvard University and earned his medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he was selected as a junior member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
As a second-year medical student, Dr. Newell cofounded a free health clinic that to this day continues to serve the impoverished communities of Buffalo’s East Side neighborhood. He was recognized for this work with the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
Dr. Newell was elected to Vituity’s Board of Directors from 2012 to 2016. From 2014 to 2016, he also served the Partnership as a Director of Quality and Performance and oversaw telehealth, CMS quality programs, two qualified clinical data registries (QCDRs), and the administrative fellowship. In 2013, Dr. Newell was recognized for his contributions to Vituity with a Distinguished Service Award.
Rob Hamilton MD, FAAEM
Rob Hamilton, MD, FAAEM joined CEP America after his independent democratic group merged with them in 2007. He continued in his role as Medical Director at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California until he took on the role of Associate Regional Director and now Regional Director. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and is active in the local medical community. Dr. Hamilton went to medical school at the University of Colorado and completed emergency medicine residency at the University of California, San Diego. Since residency, he has practiced in a variety of practice settings and groups, and believes CEP America offers the best model of physician practice he has seen. He has been part of the CEP America Compliance Committee and Innovation and Development Group, and has particular interests in wilderness and environmental medicine and emergency department workflow. He resides in Redding, California and is always looking for opportunities to fly to other CEP America sites.

Rodolfo "Rudy" Zaragoza MD
Dr. Zaragoza is Vice President of Transformational Care at Vituity. He has been a Vituity Partner since July 2004. He came to Vituity after completing his military service as a decorated active-duty officer in the U.S. Air Forces from 2000–2004.
In 1992, he completed his undergraduate degree in pre-professional studies at the University of Notre Dame (Ind.). He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois - College Of Medicine, in Chicago. In 2000, he completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Following his residency, Dr. Zaragoza was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. During his time in the service, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Iraq. He served as Chief of Emergency Services for all three deployment assignments.
Dr. Zaragoza is a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He has advanced certification in Emergency Ultrasonography, Advanced Trauma Medicine, and as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor.
Prior to his appointment as Vituity's Vice President of Transformational Care, Dr. Zaragoza served as a Regional Director and an ED Medical Director for Rideout Memorial Hospital. At Rideout, he was also Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Chair of the Emergency Process Improvement Committee (EPIC), and co-Chair of the Hospital Throughput Committee and Hospital Patient Safety Committee. In addition, he worked with the head of interventional cardiology to create and implement the hospital's STEMI program.
Ronald A. Floyd PharmD, MS
Ronald A. Floyd, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FCCP, FASHP, FCSHP received his Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy in 1974 and his master's in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1977. He completed his residency in clinical pharmacy in 1975 at LAC+USC Medical Center, then was the first Fellow in Clinical Pharmacokinetics at the USC School of Pharmacy, completing this in 1976. He went on to teach clinical pharmacokinetics and pulmonary pharmacotherapy for the USC School of Pharmacy at the LAC+USC Medical Center and later at the San Diego Veterans Administration Medical Center. In the private sector, Dr. Floyd has worked in many areas of pharmacy, including as a clinical research scientist in the biotech industry. He has devoted the last decade to practicing alleviation of pain at the Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns and continues his interest in biostatistics by assisting pharmacy residents and students as well as fellow pharmacists with study design and analysis. He is also serving his second term as Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board for the California Journal of Health-System Pharmacy. He has authored or coauthored over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Of special note: his work as an electric bass player has appeared on over 15 CDs recorded by the Armadillo Scrub Band.
Ryan Johnston DO
Dr. Johnston is the Medical Director for the hospitalist program at Sonora Regional Medical Center in Sonora, Calif. He has been a partner with Vituity since 2012, joining after he completed his internal medicine residency through Detroit Medical Center. He attended Arizona State University for his undergraduate studies in chemistry and biology prior to completing medical school in Glendale, Ariz., at Midwestern University/Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. During his time with Vituity, Dr. Johnston has served as the Chair of Medicine at Pomerado Hospital in Poway, Calif., and completed a year-long Hospital Medicine Administrative Fellowship in 2016.

Saral Patel, Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant, received her Master’s in Medical Sciences from Emory University in Atlanta. She currently works as a CAA at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C. She currently serves on CEP America’s Advocacy Steering Committee. Saral is a Past President of the American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants and the Maryland Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants. Saral is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants, District of Columbia Society of Anesthesiologists, District of Columbia Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants, and Maryland Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants. She has served as a member of the Committee on Perioperative Care of the American College of Surgeons as well as representing anesthesiologist assistants at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Safe Use Initiative. Savoy Brummer MD
Savoy Brummer, MD, is an elected member of the Vituity Board of Directors and also serves as Vice President of Business Development. He has been a Vituity Partner since 2011 and has practiced clinically in metro St. Louis and Los Angeles.
Dr. Brummer has held academic posts at the Washington University School of Public Health and Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He has served as Chair and Councilor for the Democratic Section of ACEP as well as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. Notably, Dr. Brummer is also a recipient of the prestigious Blue Jay Consulting/EMF/ACEP Director of the Year award.

Scott Lopata MD
Scott Lopata, MD joined Vituity in 1999 and practices at each of the sites in his region. Dr. Lopata is a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Scott Zeller MD
Dr. Zeller is known across the nation and around the world as a leading expert in psychiatric emergencies. He has authored multiple textbooks and numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and lectures internationally as a keynote speaker.
Additionally, he led the development of both U.S. and international guidelines on evaluation and treatment of agitation. He has published research on innovative designs for emergency mental healthcare, which he has also helped to implement in multiple centers.
Dr. Zeller is an Assistant Clinical Professor at both the University of California, Riverside and Touro University medical schools and is a past president of the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry.

Dr. Thomas also serves on the board of directors for the Mutual, Vituity’s own medical malpractice carrier. Dr. Thomas is board certified in emergency medicine and the former medical director of the emergency departments at both Mercy San Juan Medical Center and Doctors Medical Center of San Pablo. He currently practices emergency medicine at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento, California. Dr. Thomas completed his undergraduate studies in Integrative Biology at UC Berkeley before moving to New York for his medical training. He attended medical school at Albany Medical College in New York and completed his residency training in emergency medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center before joining Vituity as an administrative fellow himself in 2009-2010.

Dr. Imeson is Medical Director of Vituity's Lodi (Calif.) anesthesia sites. He also serves as Medical Director for anesthesia services at Lodi Memorial Hospital, an Adventist Health affiliate. He was President of Morpheus Anesthesia Inc. at the time it affiliated with Vituity in 2016. He has also served as President of San Joaquin Medical Society and Chief of Staff at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Stockton, as well as Anesthesiology Department Chair at multiple institutions. Kevin Riggs, PA-C, has over 11 years experience as a physician assistant, with over six of them in the emergency medicine setting. He previously served as CEP America's first site lead PA in the Midwest, where he showed clinical expertise and led successful implementation of RME and provider-at-triage. He has been very active in the Ambassador program for new sites and established an emergency medicine rotation for PA students at MacNeal Hospital. Kevin served 10 years in the US Air Force, where he learned about the PA profession and developed his leadership skills. Dr. Lori Winston is Vituity's Director of Academic Affairs. She is responsible for helping to develop and execute short-term and long-term strategies to strengthen Vituity's residency programs and affiliated residency programs.
She also has experience in building new programs to ensure high-quality, long-term physician partner satisfaction and physician candidate pipelines. She helps to position Vituity as a thought leader in academic medicine.
Dr. Winston’s career is steeped in administrative academia. After completing her emergency medicine residency at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, she stayed on as core faculty and as the Education Director.
Then an opportunity to start an emergency medicine residency came up at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, Calif. Dr. Winston successfully launched that program and went on to start five more ACGME-accredited residencies in family medicine, psychiatry, general surgery, transitional year, and anesthesiology.

Michael Aratow, MD, is a practicing emergency physician and chief medical information officer at San Mateo Medical Center. He is also the director of medical informatics for CEP America. As a physician and medical informatics expert, Dr. Aratow has helped implement emergency department information systems and outpatient ambulatory electronic medical records for general and specialty clinics that collectively see about 250,000 annual visits. Dr. Aratow received his bachelor's in biology, cum laude, from University of California, Irvine and his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine. Jeff Bass, MD is double boarded in emergency and internal medicine. Prior to assuming his duties as Regional Director in 2010, Dr. Bass served as the Medical Director for the Emergency Department at Natividad Medical Center in Monterey County, California. Dr. Bass also played a key role in helping the hospital build medical staff support for many of the changes necessary for restoring the hospital's viability. Jeffrey Frank, MD, MBA, is Vituity's Director of Quality and Performance for Hospital Medicine. He is board-certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative care and is a dynamic thought leader in the field of hospital medicine operations.
Dr. Frank has led quality and utilization management programs for over 20 years and has practiced hospital medicine for 14 years. In 2005, he helped develop and launch a pioneering hospital medicine program at Doctors Medical Center–San Pablo.
Prior to joining Vituity, Dr. Frank served as Medical Director of Inpatient Case Management at John Muir Health in Contra Costa County, Calif. In that role, he helped lead multiple clinical integration and palliative care initiatives.
Dr. Frank is a current member of the Society of Hospital Medicine’s (SHM's) Practice Management Committee and previously served on its Hospital Quality and Patient Safety Committee. He lectured as an invited speaker at SHM's 2014 and 2015 annual conferences.

Dr. Chiang received his BA from New York University and MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Mount Sinai, where he served as chief resident in his final year. Joseph Ginejko DO
Joseph Ginejko, DO joined CEP America in 2007 and currently practices clinically at Clovis Community Medical Center where he also serves as Department Chair. In addition, he is the physician lead for the Sepsis Committee and is a representative on the Quality Council and Executive Committee. Dr. Ginejko has served within CEP America as an Assistant Medical Director at Adventist Medical Center, Hanford and Medical Director at both Madera Community Hospital and Clovis Community Medical Center. Originally from the Chicago area, he completed his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Dr. Ginejko then attended the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City to complete his osteopathic medical education. He is currently a Partner with CEP America, where he serves as the Emergency Department Medical Director at Sutter Delta Medical Center.
Joshua Bobko MD, FAAEM
Dr. Joshua Bobko is a Board Certified Emergency Physician and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Loma Linda University. He completed a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services, and is the Medical Director for the Westminster (CA) Police department. His company, Valiant Research, provides operational medical support for FBI-LA SWAT.
Recognizing the gap in traditional Emergency Medical Services, he started the non-profit FirstCareProvider.org with the goal of improving community resilience by expanding trauma education into our communities. He is a national leader in the development and implementation of multi-jurisdictional medical responses to atypical emergencies, and is a voting member on the Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. He is a national authority on high-threat civilian medicine and authored the landmark papers on pediatric casualty care. His current research includes expanding operational medicine concepts to other non-traditional populations and redefining the planning assumptions for disaster preparedness.
Joshua Tamayo-Sarver MD, PhD
Dr. Tamayo-Sarver is Vice President of Informatics at Vituity, overseeing the organizational data strategy, evaluating the effects of programs and practices, and leveraging data to provide the information needed for Vituity to provide the highest quality and most efficient patient care. Dr. Tamayo-Sarver joined Vituity in 2008 as a fellow in administration and data. In addition to being the VP of Informatics, he works as a staff physician in the emergency department at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California where he is the past department Vice-Chair and Director of Quality Improvement.
He holds a bachelor's degree with honors in biochemistry from Harvard University, a medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, and a 10x10 certificate in medical informatics from Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Tamayo-Sarver completed his Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University in epidemiology and biostatistics, where his dissertation was the development and publication of a novel model describing how physicians make clinical decisions in practice. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Harbor-University of California, Los Angeles. He also spent a year working as an EMT and health educator in El Salvador. He is board certified in emergency medicine and clinical informatics.
He has also combined his understanding of information technology, physician decision-making, and clinical practice experience to create a patent-pending novel approach to electronic physician workflow products that improve documentation and decision-making. This approach has led to a company that is now in beta testing.

Julia Lyall RN
Julia Lyall helps to lead Vituity's Quality Programs team with a focus on improving the patient experience. Before joining Vituity, she worked as an ED director for Southwest Healthcare System in California.
K. Sue Hoyt PhD, RN, FNP-BC, CEN, FAEN, FAANP, FAAN
K. Sue Hoyt, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, CEN, FAEN, FAANP, FAAN, works as an emergency nurse practitioner (ENP) in the Department of Emergency at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, CA—a Level II Trauma Center, and is the former director of the MEPN program at the University of San Diego. She is the co-owner of EmergeED, an education and consulting company. Dr. Hoyt served as co-editor of the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal (which she helped create), and ENA’s Trauma Nursing Core Course Provider and Instructor manuals. After her term as ENA president, she co-edited the Emergency Nursing Core Curriculum, the official core curriculum publication from ENA.
Dr. Hoyt expanded emergency care and developed the NP role in emergency care, and is past chair of the NP Committee at ENA. She spearheaded The Delphi Study on Competencies for NPs in Emergency Care and served as the ENA representative to the work group that published Consensus Model for APRN Regulation. Her cumulative work has advanced NPs in emergency care, assisting ENA in gaining recognition of emergency nursing as a specialty by the American Nurses Association (ANA) in 2011.
Dr. Hoyt has been active in health policy and has received numerous honors/awards, some of which include:

Kabir Yousuf MD
Dr. Yousuf is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and practices in the Baltimore area. He holds a medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Christiana Care Health Services and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Wright State University.
Karen Sharp RN, MSN
Karen started her career at MemorialCare-Saddleback in June 2006, returning to her hometown of San Clemente from Salt Lake City, Utah, where she lived for 22 years. Karen graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University Of Utah College Of Nursing with her Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) in 1992. She later earned her Master of Science in nursing at Walden University in 2010.
Prior to her career with MemorialCare, Karen's clinical nursing experience includes medical surgical, post transplantation, ICU (cardiovascular, thoracic and shock trauma) and emergency nursing for Intermountain Health Care. Her ability to develop new programs and lead others caused her to leave bedside nursing to work in the fire service and develop a paramedic program for Sandy City Fire Department as their Medical Officer. She also served the State of Utah-Bureau of Emergency Medical Services as the State Trauma Coordinator, conducting site visits and designations for trauma centers and worked on legislative rules for the State to expand trauma services throughout the intermountain west. During that time she was able to participate with the 2002 Olympic Committee, worked as a public health nurse, educator and later trauma coordinator at University of Utah — a 900-bed academic medical center.
Currently, Karen oversees both emergency departments and thinks of it as one ED with a 14 mile hallway to provide continuity of care at both Saddleback campuses. She has been certified as an emergency medical dispatcher, emergency medical technician, paramedic, CCRN and completed firefighter certification I and II. Karen has extensive teaching experience and has taught international audiences on emergency medical dispatching, trauma and critical care nursing during her exciting career.
Karrar H. Ali DO, MPH
Karrar Ali, DO, MPH, a partner at CEP America, is an attending physician in the emergency department of Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center in south San Diego. He has worked on several LEAN projects in the hospital to improve throughput and sits on the hospital length of stay committee. As a board member of the San Diego County Medical Society, he regularly meets with legislatures to advocate for physicians in California.
Katherine Ahern MIMS
Katherine Ahern, MIMS, holds a master’s degree in Information Management and Systems from the School of Information at UC Berkeley, where she was a recipient of the Chen Award in 2008 for her work demonstrating usability and data capture for physician clinical notes (that research is available at http://www.ischool.berkeley.edu/programs/masters/projects/2008/md-notes). Previous to her current position as a data analyst at MedAmerica, she was a research and development engineer at UC Berkeley, and a software developer for a company providing Medicaid reimbursement services for school-based health. Kathleen Van Slyke RN, MSN
Kathleen Van Slyke, RN, MSN, is a senior practice management consultant at MedAmerica. She is the former Director of Critical Care Services of a large Central Valley medical center, where she was responsible for improving the operational function of emergency, critical care, surgical and cardiac services. She has over 25 years of clinical nursing and nursing management experience including the emergency department, trauma case management, critical care, surgical services and progressive care services. She also has experience in electronic healthcare record implementation, medical group management and developing outpatient observation units.

Kendrick Johnson, MD, has been a Vituity partner since 2008. He previously served as a Vituity Regional Director and as Emergency Department Medical Director and Chief of Staff at Mercy Hospital of Folsom.
Dr. Johnson completed his residency in emergency medicine at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee. He is originally from Colorado, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado in Boulder and worked for the University of Colorado Medical School.

Douglas Brosnan MD, JD
Douglas Brosnan, MD, JD, is Director of Provider Relations for Vituity. He publishes and lectures frequently and previously worked as a legislative analyst. He currently serves as an editor for the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Brosnan is a trustee of the California Medical Association, where he serves on various subcommittees, including the Medi-Cal Technical Advisory Committee. He is the former president of the Placer-Nevada County Medical Society and previously served on the board of the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Brosnan completed his Bachelor of Science with honors in physiology with a minor in Chicana/o Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2003, he received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2005 from the University of California, Irvine, where he also completed his emergency medicine residency.

Drew Fuller, MD, MPH, FACEP, is the Director of Safety Innovation for Emergency Medicine Associates (EMA) in Germantown, Maryland, which serves 11 distinct health systems in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is currently leading the national initiative for Safer Sign Out, which aims to strengthen physician handoff communication in high-risk environments. Edward Lew, MD, is a board-certified emergency physician and Clinical Instructor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University. He currently practices in the San Francisco Bay Area. Edward Pillar, DO, is Director of Quality and Performance for Vituity's patient experience programs. He previously served as the Emergency Department Medical Director at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, Calif., and chaired the Department of Emergency Medicine at Southwest Healthcare. He also served six years on Vituity’s Board of Directors.
Dr. Pillar is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He earned his osteopathic medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif., and completed his emergency medicine residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Gail Silver, MD, is Vituity's Associate Vice President of Ambulatory and Urgent Care. She joined Vituity in 1990.
Dr. Silver holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science at the University of California, Davis. She then enrolled in the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, where she earned both her medical degree and a master's degree in animal behavior. She completed her residency in family practice at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Southern California.
Dr. Silver is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice. She divides her clinical work between the Saddleback Urgent Care centers in Mission Viejo and Lake Forest, Calif.

Gary Li, MD, joined Vituity in 1993. He is a member of the Santa Clara County Medical Association, California Medical Association, American Medical Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is also past president of the South Bay Emergency Medical Directors Association.

Greg Stratmann MD
Greg Stratmann, MD, is an attending pediatric anesthesiologist at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, Calif., and an associate adjunct professor of clinical anesthesia at the University of California - San Francisco (UCSF). He is board-certified in pediatric anesthesiology and completed fellowships in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology and intraoperative TEE at UCSF Medical Center.
Dr. Stratmann has a research interest in the cognitive effects of general anesthesia on the developing brain. He has coauthored over a dozen papers on the subject and was lead author of a pivotal 2014 study published in the Nature journal Neuropsychopharmacology. Three of his papers have appeared with accompanying editorials, and one was the subject of a press release by Nature Publishing Group.
Gurvinder Kaur MD
Gurvinder Kaur, MD, MHA, is an elected member of the Vituity Board of Directors and also serves as a Regional Director for the Hospital Medicine Practice Line. She has been a Vituity Partner since 2012 and has practiced clinically in the Central CA area.
Dr. Kaur has previous experience in healthcare markets research and has a vast knowledge of actuarial models of third party payors. Along with her Masters on Health and Hospital Administration, she has also served as Quality Director, Chair of Medicine, and Chief of Staff-Elect.
Hartwell Lin MD
Hartwell Lin, MD, is an elected member of the Board of Directors and serves as a regional director for Vituity. He currently practices emergency medicine at John Muir Medical Center in Concord, Calif., where he previously served as emergency department medical director and chief of staff. Chris M. Clark, MPA, PA-C is a physician assistant with CEP America practicing in the Riverside Community Hospital emergency department. In January of 2010, he transitioned from site Lead Physician Assistant to Regional Lead Physician Assistant for CEP America. Courtenay Kohlman, RN, BSN, is a practice management consultant at MedAmerica. She has 11 years of nursing experience in several settings, including acute care, HIV/AIDS care and palliative care. As a case manager, she focused on utilization review and patient transitions along the Acute Care Continuum. Craig Berlinberg MD
Craig Berlinberg, MD, is a Director of Business Development for Vituity. He previously served as President and Managing Partner at Group Anesthesia Services, which joined Vituity as its first anesthesia practice in 2014.
Dr. Berlinberg received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He is board-certified in both internal medicine and anesthesia and completed residencies at UCSF and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Cyndy Flores PA-C
Cyndy Flores, PA-C, as the Director of Strategy and Innovation, is responsible for the success and growth of Vituity's advanced provider practice within a variety of care team models.
She has over 20 years of clinical experience in emergency departments. Her in-depth knowledge of the laws and regulations governing advanced providers make her an effective advocate for these professions.
Cyndy is a past president of the California Academy of Physician Assistants. She also served on the board of the American Academy of Physician Assistants PA Foundation.
Cyndy graduated from Stanford University's physician assistant program before joining Vituity in 1997. She currently practices at Regional Medical Center of San Jose.

Dan Culhane, MD, is an Operational Vice President for Vituity. Prior to his appointment, he served as a Vituity Regional Director and a Medical Director. He is board-certified in emergency medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Culhane received his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and earned his medical degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of California, San Francisco's Fresno campus.
After joining Vituity, Dr. Culhane served as Emergency Department Medical Director at both Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and French Hospital Medical Center in California. In this role, he sat on multiple hospital committees and served as Chief of Staff. Today, he continues to practice at both hospitals and is a member of the Peer Review and Medical Executive Committees.
Daniel Schmid is the former Editor of Perspectives on The Acute Care Continuum. He has been a researcher and writer for Managing Uncertainty, a strategic forecasting journal available to Fortune 500 clients. He is a graduate of The National Journalism Center in Washington, D.C and has published stories broadcast on National Public Radio. He co-founded the Golden Gate Skin Institute, LLC and served on the Board of Directors for SteppingStone Health for 7 years. He received his undergraduate degree from UCSD and an MPA from the University of Southern California.
David Birdsall MD
As Chief Operations Officer (COO), Dr. Birdsall is responsible for day-to-day operations across all service locations and specialties. In this role, he develops and implements operational initiatives aligned with the strategic direction of the organization. He also oversees Vituity's advanced provider practice.
Dr. Birdsall is a practicing physician and is board-certified in both emergency and internal medicine. Prior to his appointment as COO, Dr. Birdsall served as an Operational Vice President. In this role, he managed Vituity’s leadership development programs, including its Leadership and Medical Director Academies.
He has served on the boards of both John Muir Health and John Muir Medical Group. He is also a former Chief of Staff at John Muir Medical Center, Concord.
Dr. Birdsall received a Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of California, Davis, where he also completed his residency. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine.

Barbara Victor MD
Barbara Victor, MD, joined the CEP America Partnership in 1999. She has held medical directorships in the emergency departments of Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Medical Center, Garden Grove Hospital, and California Hospital. She has also served as a CEP Regional Director.
Dr. Victor completed her nursing degree at Harbor College and practiced as an emergency department nurse for eight years at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Beena Patel DrPH, MPH
Beena Patel, DrPH, MPH strives to improve the quality of care and delivery through patient-centered innovations. She is a recent graduate of the Health Policy and Management Ph.D program at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her dissertation on the implementation of the West Los Angeles HPACT has been recognized nationally and replicated as a best practice across the country. She continues to be an active researcher, and her work is dedicated to the heroes of our nation who find themselves homeless in an effort to give them a voice.
Benjamin Brekke is a second-year graduate student at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California where he is studying medical statistics and health policy. He recently returned from Geneva, Switzerland, where interned at the World Health Organization and served as a representative of the International Diabetes Federation at the 67th World Health Assembly. He subsequently accepted an internship in Mexico City to work for the esteemed company El Poder Del Consumidor, which is helping Mexico lead the world in food policy. He graduated from the Claremont Colleges with a degree in neuroscience, where he won the Best Thesis Award in Science. He is an author on three scientific publications and he is currently working under CEP emergency physician Benjamin Squire on a research project examining the effectiveness of mechanical CPR versus conventional manual CPR. He was the lead scribe at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for three years and has been a CEP National Scribe Trainer for two years. He has implemented seven full scribe programs and contributed to the company's training material and online didactic training. He is a big fan of the culture at CEP America and hopes to return to the company as a practitioner.

Dr. Frizner has over 10 years' experience working in the hospital, outpatient, and skilled nursing settings. He was the Director of Hospital Medicine at Saint Agnes Hospital for four years before becoming the director of the long-term ventilator unit at FutureCare Irvington.
Bing Pao MD
Bing Pao, MD, joined Vituity in 1999 and went on to serve as an Assistant Emergency Department Medical Director at Palomar Health in San Diego County. He currently practices at Palomar Medical Center and serves as Director of Provider Relations. In addition, he has an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego.
After graduating with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Dr. Pao earned his medical degree from Duke University. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of California, San Diego. He is board-certified in emergency medicine.
Dr. Pao is active in the emergency medicine community. He is past president of the California Emergency Residency Association, a reviewer for the Journal of Emergency Medicine, and a board member for both the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (CalACEP) and the San Diego County Medical Society. In addition, Dr. Pao currently co-chairs CalACEP's Reimbursement Committee and serves on ACEP's Reimbursement Committee.

Bonny Sorensen is a veteran healthcare finance executive and consultant with B.E. Smith. She is a strong financial leader with proven success in managing multimillion-dollar operations and implementing change initiatives that boost fiscal performance in regards to accounts receivables, interest rates and audit compliance. Her experience includes directing profit and nonprofit organizations during periods of transition, growth, turnaround and startup.
